Five Lanyu round trips cancelled; yellow wind watch continues as Wanli Stream shifts to monitoring

Information time: September 19, 2026, 19:34 (Taiwan time).

Affected Indigenous areas and alert levels:

• Taitung–Lanyu air service: At 19:34, five round trips—7505/7506, 7515/7516, 7507/7508, 7517/7518 and 7509/7510—were cancelled, totalling ten sectors. Three round trips—7501/7502, 7503/7504 and 7511/7512—were completed. The route is at transport / watch, not red and not a full-day shutdown. Actual operations remain subject to the latest airline and airport notices.
• Strong wind in Miaoli and Taichung: At 16:32 on September 19, the CWA issued a yellow land strong-wind advisory for officially listed local areas in Miaoli County, Taichung City and Penghu County through 17:00 on September 20. This is weather / watch / yellow, not red. The county-level signal must not be applied automatically to Nanzhuang, Tai'an or Heping; communities should follow the latest official local details.
• Wanli Stream in Hualien: An active Public Warning Platform notice says the landslide-dammed lake is overflowing steadily but uncertainty remains. Entry into county-designated alert areas around the embankment and riverbed is prohibited through 22:01 on September 19. This is access-restriction / watch, not a resident evacuation order and not a red alert for all of Wanrong Township.
• Water, slope hazards and roads: The WRA shows no active inundation or river-level warning. Baoshan Second, Dapu and Hushan reservoirs are listed as discharging under reservoir-release / monitoring only, with no Indigenous area listed and no red alert. No debris-flow or large-scale-landslide red/yellow escalation was found. The Daman bypass in Fuxing, Taoyuan remains limited to controlled small-vehicle passage from 13:00 to 14:00 daily under access-restriction / watch.

Nationwide regional assessment:

• North: Officially listed local areas in Miaoli are under yellow wind watch and are treated as a northern observation alert; the county signal is not automatically applied to Nanzhuang or Tai'an. The Daman bypass remains time-restricted. No heavy rain, severe thunderstorm, level-one inundation, official rapid-stream-rise alert, slope escalation, evacuation, shelter, class suspension or new public-service disruption was found.
• Central: Officially listed local areas in Taichung are under yellow wind watch and are treated as a central observation alert; the county signal is not automatically applied to Heping District. Ren'ai, Xinyi and Alishan remain at weather monitoring. No heavy rain, level-one inundation, Indigenous road or bridge outage, slope escalation, evacuation, shelter, class suspension or public-service change was found.
• South: No heavy-rain, severe-thunderstorm or Indigenous-area strong-wind signal is active. No level-one inundation, official rapid-stream-rise alert, slope escalation, evacuation, shelter, transport suspension or major public-service disruption was found.
• East: Five Lanyu round trips are cancelled, placing the route at transport watch. The county-designated alert area around Wanli Stream is at access-restriction watch. No heavy-rain or strong-wind signal is active for other covered Indigenous areas in Yilan, Hualien and Taitung, and no level-one inundation or slope-alert escalation was found.

At 19:32 on September 19, the DGPA still reported no work or class suspensions. No resident evacuation, shelter activation, school-level closure, major agricultural-loss warning or new major Indigenous public-service disruption was found.

Recommended action: Lanyu passengers should check the latest airline and airport status before travelling to the airport and allow for alternative arrangements. Secure outdoor objects in officially listed wind-watch areas in Miaoli and Taichung. Do not enter the designated Wanli Stream alert area. Use the Daman bypass only during the announced window and when on-site controllers permit passage. Official real-time notices govern.

23:55 update

Information time: September 19, 2026, 23:55 (Taiwan time).

• Wanli Stream in Hualien: The county access-restriction notice on the Public Warning Platform expired at 22:01 and is no longer listed among active notices. Wanli Stream therefore shifts to barrier-lake / monitoring. Expiry of the notice does not by itself mean the alert area has formally reopened; follow the latest Hualien County Government and Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency notices. This is not a resident evacuation order and not a red alert for all of Wanrong Township.
• Strong wind in Miaoli and Taichung: The yellow advisory updated by the CWA at 22:23 still covers officially listed local areas in Miaoli County, Taichung City and Penghu County through 17:00 on September 20. It remains weather / watch / yellow, not red, and must not be applied automatically to Nanzhuang, Tai'an or Heping.
• Reservoir releases: Public Warning Platform updates from 23:08 to 23:18 list free overflow at Baoshan Second and Hushan reservoirs with “minor” severity. They remain reservoir-release / monitoring. The officially listed rivers and administrative areas do not include an Indigenous area; this is not a level-one inundation warning or red alert.
• Existing transport status: Taitung Airport's 23:37 final board for the day still shows five Lanyu round trips—ten sectors—cancelled and three round trips completed, remaining at transport / watch. The Daman bypass in Fuxing, Taoyuan remains limited to controlled small-vehicle passage from 13:00 to 14:00 daily.

No heavy-rain advisory, inundation warning or river-level warning is active nationwide. No debris-flow or large-scale-landslide red/yellow escalation, resident evacuation, shelter activation, or work/class suspension was found. Continue to stay away from the Wanli Stream riverbed and embankment area until the competent authority explicitly announces reopening; official real-time notices govern all other actions.
